Create models for a production pipeline
The aim of this course is to expose you to all of the things that you need in order to be successful in a professional work environment as a 3D modeler. During this class, you'll learn how to streamline yourself to be a fast, efficient, and effective character artist. One of the core issues that junior artists face when working at a large company is learning how to acclimate to the studio environment. This course will teach you what the expectations are for production modeling and what it’s like to work on a production team. You will be creating models that are production friendly using the tools, techniques, and practices that are taught throughout the course. These apply to the game, film, and animation industries. You will create props from provided concept art, and at the end of the class you will assemble them into a scene--creating a vignette you can show in your portfolio or your demo reel. *Note: Students qualify for a free 3-year Educational license from Autodesk. Please visit their site for more details.

Lectures by David Mooy
A longtime veteran of the industry, David began his career illustrating car accidents for the courtroom, which led to illustrating the gruesome injuries caused, which led to illustrating surgical procedures, which led to working on the VFX for dozens of fancy car commercials! This led to VFX work on a wide variety of films, ride films, TV series, and more commercials--which then led to modeling for five Disney animated features and four Disney “apps.” All of this led to his current career as a freelance consultant, modeler, and technical artist for companies working in advertising, design, VFX, games, VR, and big oil. And now all of that has led to doing one of the things he enjoys doing most: teaching.

I absolutely loved this course predominantly because of the instructor. Juan is such a pleasure to talk to, and shares the wealth of knowledge he has on the subject very willingly. He definitely goes above and beyond in answering questions and introducing new plugins and scripts.
I thought Juan was a great coach. I had to withdraw from the class on the third week because this is not the route I want to take with my career. Nevertheless, I highly recommend this instructor.
Instructor was very helpful and thorough with feedback.
Juan was awesome! I learned so much in these few short weeks.
