Inspire Your Heart With Art Day

Inspire Your Heart with Art Day is a day where we acknowledge and appreciate the role that art has played in our lives. Today we ask ourselves: How do you use art? What inspires you? However, these are simple questions that don’t always warrant simple answers. Luckily for the instructors at CGMA, they figured it out early on and are helping to sculpt the world’s next innovators. Bobby Rebholz, Sr. Concept Artist, shares how nature influenced his sketches of creatures from unknown worlds and makes an imprint in his creative DNA: “I guess the main thing I'd like to say is how I got inspired not only by other artists, but by nature as well. The turning point happened about a year ago with my creatures. I knew in the back of my mind that studying animals was the best way in making my creature designs believable. But I was too stubborn to step out of my comfort zone to do it. Then suddenly, it hit me. I felt a mental barrier being shattered as I explored animals of Earth and started combining their anatomy. By doing this, I was learning a whole new way of designing creatures and it was happening very fast. There are so many artists that inspire me but I have to say that out of all the years of drawing creatures, Stan Winston Studios grabbed me and never let go as well as the work by Rick Baker with An American Werewolf in London. I remember being six years old and seeing Aliens for the first time. Then, I saw Predator the next year. There was no turning back for me then.” Like Bobby, other artists draw from the everyday beauty and chaos to create original pieces with long-lasting effects.
