Bungie Unveils Revival of Marathon Series at PlayStation Showcase

In an exciting announcement at the PlayStation Showcase, Bungie revealed a trailer for the long-awaited return of Marathon, their acclaimed sci-fi first-person shooter series. This upcoming installment marks Bungie's first entirely new project in over a decade.

Marathon will make its way to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, featuring cross-play and cross-save functionality. As described on the PlayStation Blog, players will assume the roles of cybernetic mercenaries known as Runners, embarking on an enthralling journey through the lost colony on the planet of Tau Ceti IV, in search of wealth, fame, and notoriety.

Bungie is an exciting game development company known for creating thrilling titles like the Marathon, Myth, and Halo series. They've also delivered the immersive shared-world shooter, Destiny. Their innovative games have captivated players worldwide and solidified their position as industry leaders.

In an interview, Marathon Game Director Christopher Barrett revealed exciting details about the upcoming game, emphasizing its PvP-focused nature and the absence of a single-player campaign. Barrett clarified that while the game is not a direct sequel to the original Marathon series, it undeniably resides within the same universe and embodies the distinctive essence of a Bungie creation.

Barrett expressed the team's enthusiasm for incorporating nods to the rich lore of the Marathon universe while simultaneously forging a fresh and unique experience. He emphasized that the game will honor the mythology and story of the original Marathon games, ensuring a sense of continuity for fans.

While no specific release window has been announced, Marathon's General Manager, Scott Taylor, assured fans that the next update would include gameplay footage closer to launch. For more information, interested individuals can visit Marathon's official website, where additional details await.
