Learn the fundamentals of Photoshop

This class is designed to get you up and running with Adobe Photoshop! Students will explore the basic yet powerful features of the application while also discovering the numerous possibilities of its digital tools. This includes: -General UI and toolbar navigation -Developing an understanding of sophisticated layering techniques (i.e. layers and adjustment panels, basic masking and grouping, etc.) -Using the paintbrush, airbrush, stamp and pencil tools -Appling color correction, and other filter effects -Isolating image layers (in order to erase/add layers to a specific part of an image)

Learn how to understand Photoshop UI, tools, and menu properties. Introduction, Geting to know photoshop, and finding any questions you may have for the next week.
Discover various ways to complete different tasks in Photoshop. Expereiment with selection tools, cropping, background selection, and layers. Try these new tools on selected images.
Experiment with different tools and layer settings for specific design work. Learn how to use brush menus and different brush types. Create your own brush and retouch photos recording before and after results.
Discover the use of pen tools and masking tools. Use these tools to edit magazine covers incoprorating text tools.
Use liquify tools and filter gallery tools. Attempt these tools by manipulating photos.
Adjustment layers to change values and edit photos into day to night.
Familiarize yourself with a digital painting and drawing workflow.

Lectures by Sona Sargsyan

Sona Sargsyan is a graduate of Art Center College of Design and after graduating; Pixar Animation Studios recruited her for the summer as a concept artist on the Pixar film, Dia De Los Muertos. She then transferred to DisneyToon Studios as a visual development artist on the Planes and Tinker Bell franchise. After completing her projects, she was a freelancer for Disney Publishing on the children’s book, The Pirate Fairy, for a few months before being picked up by Hasbro Studios as a background painter for the new Transformers Series, which is currently on its second season.
