Time for a close-up! Through a vast range of expressions, performance and animation in a character’s face reveal emotion and character to effectively tell the story and give the audience a truer sense of a character’s interior life. This course is about the practical nuts and bolts of how to properly animate eyes (variety of blinks, darts, pupils), brows, and mouth phonemes.  Students will also create expression tests and learn how to make the entire face work correctly together using a simple rig of a face with no hands. Targeted assignments will help students develop the acting chops required to create unique and memorable facial animation shots. The goal is to create a strong understanding of facial mechanics and a keen awareness of acting choices.
